Bihar is located in the eastern part of India. Bihar is known for its history and Culture. Buddhism was born in the land of Bihar and zero was invented here itself. Warriors like Ashoka and Chandragupta Maurya have been born in the land of Bihar. But I will tell you 5 such places in Bihar which you must visit once.


1. Nalanda University

Nalanda University was one of the first universities in the world and was established by Kumaragupta of the Gupta dynasty. Many kings and scholars contributed to it as well. The facility included 10 temples, 8 distinct compounds, meditation rooms, classrooms, lakes, and parks. In its nine-story library, monks copied books and other materials so that each scholar can have their collections. It is located in the Nalanda district,80 km from Patna, the capital of Bihar .

2. Gaya

Gaya is one of the most famous place of Bihar ,which is a Hindu pilgrimage hub and a transit point for Buddhist pilgrimage centre of Bodhgaya. It is believed that it was here under the tree that Buddha attained enlightenment. Gaya is a busy city situated on the bank of River Phalgu and it is replete with many temples and historic sites dating back to different eras that stand as the evidence to the successful rule of Maurya and Gupta dynasty here. Gaya is well-connected by air, rail and road from major cities of India. The best way would be to take a flight or a train.

3. Vaishali

Vaishali is an important archaeological site of Bihar and Vaishali Was the Capital City of the Licchavi rulers. Vaishali earned fame as the birthplace of the last Jain Tirthankara Lord Mahavira. Vaishali was a prosperous kingdom during the time of Buddha, it is also known for its beautiful courtesan Amrapali. This ancient city finds mention in the travel accounts of eminent Chinese travellers like Fa-hien and Hieun Tsang. The nearest airport of Vaishali is Patna (70km) and the Nearest railway station is Muzaffarpur (36km).


4. Madhubani

Madhubani district is one of the thirty- eight districts of Bihar which is famous for Madhubani art and Mithila Paintings. Madhubani art or Mithila painting was traditionally created by the women of various communities in the Mithila region of India. It originated from the Madhubani district of the Mithila region of Bihar. Madhubani is also a major export centre of these paintings. This painting as a form of wall art was practised widely throughout the region; the more recent development of painting on paper and canvas mainly originated among the villages around Madhubani, and it is these latter developments led to the name Madhubani art being used alongside the name "Mithila Painting. If you people are interested in art, then definitely come to Madhubani once. Nearest Railway Station is Madhubani and Jaynagar and Nearest Airport is Darbhanga.

5. Rohtas

 Rohtas is one of the most beautiful districts of Bihar, Sasaram is the largest city in Rohtas district. Sasaram is a historical city. It is also called the city of Sher Shah Suri. In Rohtas Maa Tara Chandi Temple, Gupta Dham, shrines of sufis are places of religious interest. According to Ain-i-Akbari Rohtas and Kaimur, more than 200 waterfalls appear during monsoon. The beauty of Rohtas district is that it is located on the oldest national highway and is connected very well with other cities of the state and outside as well. I and my friend Shami went to Rohtas in the first week of January this year and we both personally liked Rohtas very much. Rohtas district is so beautiful, especially on rainy days it can take 1 month to visit well. If you come to Bihar then you cannot ignore the beauty of Rohtas. The nearest airport from Rohtas is Gaya (100km) and the railway station is Sasaram which is in Rohtas district.
